Week of May 21st, 2012 Things are really getting started. Shoul
In The Beginning... Living Word Lutheran Church was formed in January 2004 by a merger of New Life Lutheran Church of Spicer, MN and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New London, MN. In January 2005, Living Word was moved to the current home in Spicer, the former Prairie Meadows building with plans to begin looking at building a new church home. The building project "So That The World May Know!" began in the spring of 2007 with fundraising pledges from congregation members. The steps needed to begin construction were outlined and in the fall of 2007 the congregation drafted wish lists of features for the new building. The Building Committee was formed in the spring of 2008. Sunday, April 1st, 2012 After many years of planning, fundraising, and prayer... A special voter’s assembly at Living Word Lutheran Church gave approval to a plan to begin building a church at our land near New London. The plans and information can be viewed below Now we can start to get all the applications and permits and sign contracts with our contractors! Week of May 14th, 2012 Everything is in process of getting ready to begin our new building at the church site. Permits and applications are being filed and processed so that we can get ready to build! The new approach off the highway has been build and the building site has been staked to begin excavation. Praise God for the couple-day delay that caused to the walls to be put up after, not before, Sunday's storm. If you have a chance, take a drive out to the building site and walk around inside the church. June 21st, 2012 Ready for the roof... The roof trusses were delivered today (If you look closely you can see them in the distance, stacked near the church in the photo of the sign). Oak Ridge Construction will be setting the trusses on the walls on Monday (weather permitting). Plans are for our volunteers to begin installing the metal roofing late afternoon and evening next Wednesday (June 27). Send an email to pastor@livingwordlutheran.net if you can help us with this.
